Jenga Pile/Pire

Still playing with the idea of stacking things (ie. Tetris) I decided, while back at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, to make a Jenga-like stack of oak and set it on fire. why not right? The structure was approximately..... taller than me, and made exclusively from green wood that I split by hand with a sledge hammer.

Big Tetris

This is a piece I did back in Undergrad, a large move-able Tetris set, set against a perfect Tetris wall right outside the sculpture department at Oberlin College. I starred at that wall for so many frustrated hours that I decided to make it a little bit more fun.  Approximately 4'x2'x6" mdf and lots of bright paint.

SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.

My final project from Vivian Beer's Metal Furniture class at Penland School of Craft was this chair. Initially inspired by a very big, very soft arm chair that I used to curl up in when I was a small one; I tried to replicate that feeling of intimate comfort in a traditionally un-comfotable material: steel. Also because I had to transport this rather large chair back to my new home of Chicago from North Carolina in a small station wagon, the chair needed to be completely collapsible... Its starting to be a trend for me. I like really big things, but I don't have a truck, and I still need to be able to maneuver this large projects usually with the help of just one other person, therefore, everything has to be collapsible. Its actually a fun challenge for me. enjoy!

Third Wheel Bench, OR the Lightning Bolt Coffee Table

Coffee Table? Bench? yeah, it is what you make of it. One of my first projects out of my metal furniture class at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. It was my first time using steel, welding and breaking and bending metal. This coffee table/ bench is about four and a half feet long, with space in the middle bend for books and magazines. and its bright yellow! always a good thing.
